1938 CAL
1938 was the one and only season for the California Football League. The CAL was a semi-pro football league on the west coast. Pro football on the west coast was scarce indeed, prior to the Rams moving to Los Angeles in 1947. The league included the Stockton Shippers, the Hollywood Stars, the Fresno Wine Crushers, the Salinas Iceberg Packers, and the Oakland Cardinals. The class of the league would be Stockton (4-0-0) and Hollywood (4-1-0), as they would finish on top of the standings. The champion was determined by the best winning percentage, as there were no playoffs. The league would shut down after the lone 1938 season.
